And you know what’s really troubling. There’s tons of money to be had in reclaiming superfund sites, restoring damaged properties from environmental damage, and improving/restoring the environment. Yes, there are businesses that have to cough up serious coin to cover damages they imposed years before (think GE for the Hudson River contamination or Standard Oil (and progeny -ExxonMobil- for the Newtown oil spill in Brooklyn/Queens - the world’s largest oil spill no one has heard of despite occurring underneath New York City). However, that money would go to fix the damage done and would clean up historic wrongs and improve quality of life and bring new economic benefits to areas affected.
