If I am not mistaken, Los Animas county is hard-right and full of engineers.

Los Alamos is home to a big national laboratory. It has the highest concentration of millionaires in the country, and is surely the best-educated part of NM. Weird place to be sure, but I wouldn’t call it hard right. Obama won there in 2012.
