I see nothing about Trump that suggests he understands our documents and governing principles as a representative Republic. Of course, he knows things like the Declaration, Constitution, or Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and what they are but I doubt he knows what they really mean. If you asked Trump to explain an important SCOTUS case, he couldn’t do it. He wouldn’t be able to explain to you why the concept of separation of powers is so vital to our system of government. And I guess that’s actually to his advantage with his supporters because they don’t either.

He’s heard of them but I doubt he ever read any or is familiar with a single provision of any of these documents.
