There’s something kinda weird in saying “Well there was a worse election 190 years ago!” as if it mitigates the awful situation we’re facing now.

We need to deal with the situation (well as much as we can), or at least acknowledge how bad it is, not make excuses.

bad? it is wonderful… people are getting involved.
