They’re trying not to depress the Republican vote. If people think there is a chance, they may go out to vote. And then there may be a chance.

Republican intensity is awfully high, and you’re right, they’re trying to preserve it. I think it will actually make a bit of a difference…I don’t think we’re going to see the electoral blowout that 538 predicts. But enough to hand Romney a win? Unlikely. A huge win? Extremely unlikely.
