I think what one says can be contrasted with how one behaves…and, if there’s some discrepancy, the difference can be pointed out, which would then cause doubt about the sincerity of certain statements…(or one could point out countradictory statements — at one time X was said, next thing, the exact opposite is stated. Or, as another example, campaign Obama stated: “America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian genocide..” So, was there a mention of the Armenian genocide during President Obama’s recent trip to Turkey? answer, not that I’m aware of…)
