I’m not sure if I’m not explaining my overall point well, or you are just really committed to this exporting ideology thing. Russia is currently attempting to expand its influence in both Africa and Latin America in addition to Eastern Europe, Central and Western Asia. They are not literally supporting rebel groups, but if you’ve already conceded that the goal of the USSR was not exporting Communism/Marxism then…what’s the argument again?

Also, you keep saying ‘national interest’ when we all know that Putin’s and the USSR leadership of days past were doing what was best for Putin and the USSR leadership, not ‘the nation’.
