No, that just answers the point that you don’t feel the need to find out what other people are saying about you for your own personal self-esteem/defense/whatever.

It doesn’t address the original point which is that it’s risky to defend people to third parties without being aware of what they’re saying. Which is how people interpreted your comment about Walter.
