Because of the idealized ‘history’ that they think they know. The hear revolutionary war and think - well, we did for king George when he pissed us off, there’s no difference if the elected government of the U.S. pisses us off.

My British BiL posted an interesting interview of students from other countries and what they thought of the (in their words) War for American Independence, not revolutionary war. A large number of countries just note it as a passing part of the overall reformation. Others note it as an example for the French Revolution, which they actually did study. But, by and large, it was just a nominal blip in course of human history.

The second time they tried an American Revolution it did not end well for the revolutionists.
