Observations on the Trent Frank horrorshow:

This is a prime fucking example of how a culture of sexual “purity” and fetishization of reproduction as the value of women perfectly dovetails with predatory behavior. “Male” authority figures get to discount the autonomy of women—“consent” emanates from the nearest male authority figure, but what if you have “authority” because you have social and spiritual capital… (a dick is also a major part of this calculation). Not a coincidence. Entirely in sync with the way sex abuse plays out in churches, reparative therapy camps, et cetera et cetera et cetera.

4. That the proposition was framed in terms of reproduction doe not mean that (a) it isn’t a sexualized abuse of power, (b) that he wasn’t getting off on it. “Acquire permanent bond to woman by impregnating her” is standard, if horrifying, intersection of erotism and power. Foucaultian power/sex dystopia is definitely a fucking thing now.

5. Double down bet: his wife had zero fucking clue about this “surrogacy” offer.
