Nope, that’s a pile of shit. Nobody has found evidence of any sort of “fat finger” trade along those lines. And frankly, even if that was the case, that alone should not be enough to trigger a selloff so massive to crash the Dow 1,000 points.

You’re absolutely right - the main point of contention is that the drop started with a trade in the S&P e-mini futures, of which the most you can trade at any one time is 2K contracts. So that, right on the face of it, is a big steaming pile of horseshit.

What it was was a whole mess of people trying to cram out of one exit door at the same time. That was just a taste of things to come.
