Bulls eye, my friend. Your initial point got me wondering how one would prove that any finite sequence of digits occurs in pi. I am sure someone tackled that long long ago. Cheers!
Ah, see, that’s just it. As I recall from my college days, you cannot compute any sequence of pi without computing all the digits between it and the decimal point. There are various ways to represent pi that make the calculation better or faster, but you absolutely have to calculate all the numbers in order to find the sequence.
