Remind Christians again that 90% of our image of Jesus is filled in to fit our preconceived notions. The Evangelists were intentionally vague about many key details of his birth, death or appearance, focusing only on those stories that supported their claim that he was The Messiah.

The Evangelists (whose real names we don’t even know - all the gospels are anonymous, with the traditional names arbitrarily attached much later) freely invented the key details as they went along in order to fit Jesus’ life to the OT prophecies, which they then duly cited. Which makes the gospels extremely unreliable, if at all useful, as historical sources.
