Conflating criminal conduct with poor teaching is not a good idea. They are two separate issues. You were right to make that distinction.

As for firing poor teachers, the problem is pretty entrenched. The New Yorker ‘rubber room’ article is pretty incredible- and damning.

No easy solutions on the horizon, that’s for sure.
