I’ve never heard GWB, or any other POTUS, flat out talk about kicking someone’s ass, so I think your analogy fails.

On the other hand, I actually liked hearing that phrase from a POTUS for the first time. Of course it was carefully calculated for consumption, but I liked it none the less.

I think he meant it colloquially though. I don’t think anyone really expects Obama to take off his jacket and throw hands :D

And yeah, it was calculated, but it doesn’t to me, rise to the level of Angry Theater. If it was all the time, if there’s constant rhetoric like that, then I’d revise my appraisal.
