I walked into a job interview about 20 years ago to a bunch of guys in a conference room, and one of them blurted out, “We were all expecting a man!” (I have a gender-ambiguous first name)

I attribute much of my success to that fact that I have one of those first names, too. Got me into many doors that would have been closed otherwise. Thanks Mom and Dad!
