As a former Catholic, I see that I have ventured down a street, that a lot of Catholics do not want to be reminded about, and are very sensitive about this. The real sin, is that the Catholic Church did nothing, and continues to do nothing. Stonewalls, rejects, reassigns. That is the bigger sin, and when a fallen Catholic [like myself] mentions the molestation problem, and makes these comments, Catholics react. It’s too bad that these same ones did not react when the accusations came out. Not unlike a lot of Catholics in WWII, who turned blind eyes to the Holocaust. If I offended you CIA, then I am sorry. The bigger offense is the continuing molestation that goes on, in the Catholic Church, and the continuing cover up . Maybe the comment was cruel, but so is the comment that Israel is perpetrating a concentration camp in Gaza.

The Catholic Church is a very large and often unwieldy organization and it has more than its fair share of jerks. Some of those jerks are child abusers, and some of them (as you note) are apologists and enablers of child abusers. There is no excuse for these people, they are a manifestation of the infiltration of Evil into the Church, and they should be removed from their positions and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I have seen the Church do that, and unfortunately I have also seen the Church NOT do that.

You do not offend me by your remarks- I am not offended by the truth. What pains me is the effect of tarring the integrity of Church teaching with the misdeeds of some of her ministers. I believe attempts to do that are inspired by Evil.

It is akin to trying to persuade someone that because there are corrupt cops one need not obey the law.
