Coming Out Could Mean Jail Time in Russia
Yes, it could become illegal to come out as gay in Russia. The freepers are delirious in their approval, since the news gives them a chance to indulge two of their favorite pastimes, gay-bashing and Putin-love.

“Fine with me. Its legal to be gay there. You just cant propagandize children. And that’s what this “coming out” BS is. Nobody has to “come out” to just live their life.”

“Wish we woulda had this law a few decades back.”

“Good for Russia. Those with nasty habits will not be marketing the vile behavior to others other than their perversion partner. What they keep private won’t get them in trouble.”

This one spells it out:

“Seems like every week lately, Russia is a better run country than our dear Republic. It’s nice to see a government treat homosexuality as the mental illness it is.”

60 years ago, the right wing wanted to hang people who promoted Kremlin policy as an example for this country; or at least exile them to the wilds of darkest Berkeley. Now they are those people.

At this point, I have no doubt that Stalin would have been enormously popular with the American right if he hadn’t threatened their corporate overlords or bashed organized superstition (something he quit doing during World War II, btw).
