I think you’re rather missing the point of the Fox donations.

I think Comcast donates to whoever they think will help Comcast. Much the same as Fox News parent News Corp does. Fox News is just one component of News Corp, and not the biggest one either. News Corp owns Showtime, National Geographic Channel, Fox Sports, 20th Century Fox, and many others. I doubt Fox News accounts for even 5% of News Corp revenue.
