See, this is what the pope said:

“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the Pope said. “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

However, evolution does not answer all of the great philosophical questions, he said, including: Where does everything come from?


This is absolutely true. Creationists present evolution and belief in god as alternatives that exclude each other. They don’t. It is absurd because there is proof of evolution, and that absolutely has to be accepted, even by religious people.

And evolution does not answer the great philosophical questions.

High-energy physics does attempt to answer the questions of the origin of the universe. If he’s wrong about anything, it’s positing that as a philosophical question.
