They weren’t protesting the amount of the taxes. They were protesting the position of having to pay taxes while having no say in the government that was levying them.

Last time I checked - about 30 seconds ago - we currently have representation in government at all levels.

Trying to equate these protests to those of the Revolutionary tea party by claiming similarity of causes is a non-starter.

You haven’t been paying attention then. There’s been many comments from lizards who have tried to contact their representatives and are met with either silence or an arrogant form letter that tells them they don’t know what they’re talking about. Much of the reasoning of original tea party as well as the Revolutionary War was exactly for this.
