I’d also have to ask “How can we be sure it was wingnuts who created this attack?” The Ars Technica article Charles linked to noted:

For all we know the attack could have come from China, perhaps to conceal a nastier virus or worm installing itself on the attack’s host computers.

There is a mentality that craves distrust. When it convinces the majority of us that all flags are false, all motives ulterior, all neighbors criminals, we will be ungovernable. The idiots who hunger for anarchy think they will go Galt. They’re more likely to go into a cooking pot.
