Many young, ideological, academics never get around to talking about how to live in a complex world where life is about making compromises, every day.

And that leadership is in part about being compromised.

Ideally not due to personal failure or being a tool of malicious agents. (Trump fails on both counts.)

Instead, life is about accepting that parameters are put upon one by the sheer weight of both society and the past.
