DDR military equipment is interesting stuff to look at nowadays. Blue-gray mushroom helmets, “rain” pattern gear (I had rain-camo mag carriers and orange bakelite mags for my AK), etc. For all their ravings about the evils of “Fascism”, when the Soviets took control of East Germany they allowed the locals to keep the pre-existing Nazi design aesthetic almost unchanged.

I wonder how much DDR consumer gear went eastward into the Russian-speaking parts of the Communist block.
