December 2012 was 4 degrees warmer than average in NYC.

Total precip for 2012 well below average, and would have been worse but for noreaster. In 2011, the total precip would have been worse than that, but for Hurricane/TS Irene/Lee dumping tremendous rain in short period of time.

But across the nation, we’re seeing unprecedented drought conditions - as bad or worse than anything seen during the Dust Bowl years.
