I know. THIS mass shooting was because of homophobia and/or religion, and THAT mass shooting was because of Mental Illness, and THAT mass shooting was because of racism, and THAT mass shooting was because of stress at work.

To be fair, availability of weapons is never the cause of someone going on a rampage. “Hey, I can buy a shotgun with a ten-round magazine, so I’m gonna gun kill people.” is not how things get going. The desire to kill predates the search for a means to kill.
