Bah! Romeo and Juliet is over taught. I wish schools would teach Othello or Hamlet outside of Shakespearean elective classes. Othello is a way way better story. Though I have to admit that Julius Caesar is still an awesome story. I had a blast reading the part of Marc Antony in class.

We teach R&J in 9th grade as an intro to Shakespeare. They read Othello and Macbeth as seniors. I think 9th graders are more willing to give the play a chance because the main characters are closer to their own age.

I do love Julius Caesar, though!
