Roorda has fallen into the pit where defending his little sub-group of society overrides all other considerations. Especially painful when the group is supposed to be defending and supporting the public weal since the favortism carries with it a very strong implication that the group considers itself above reproach, introspection, and being held responsible to the law.

It’s simple. They have come to the isolated and arrogant state of mind called “Us and “Them”. With the built in unshakable assumption that translates to us good guys and them bad guys. That never changes fast.
