The left spent 8 years hoping we’d lose in Iraq and were thrilled every time there was a national embarrassment or failure. The right is doing the same thing today. Try to explain to a right winger that the economy is recovering; they’ll get really pissed. If you tell them we’re doomed they’ll pat you on the back and buy you a beer.

I never heard a single person on the left say they hoped we’d lose in Iraq and I was there. I was at the anti-war demonstrations and nobody I ever talked to said they wanted us to lose. They just wanted us to get the hell out. If anyone had said they wanted more American fatalities I’d have punched them in the mouth.
