Let me try to state it this way: To the extent that the Jewish people have a claim to the Temple Mount that is based on time of occupation and cultural significance, Muslims have a similar claim to the area which can be justified in a similar way.

Except that when it was first built there was no time of occupation, or cultural significance. AND it was leveled to the ground three times (if I remember my history correctly) and rebuilt bigger each time. And each time the story of its cultural significance got bigger and bigger.
