Apple at least was always “seam up or facing you” up till a certain point, then they abruptly switched. It’s as annoying as trying to remember “Ford—turn the key the wrong way, except for a while they were normal, now they’re backwards again”.

I thought that Ford had symmetrical keys for at least the final 20 years before ignitions went NFC-with-pushbutton; pretty sure GM was the one that still had uni-directional keys into the early 2Ks?
