The best explanation I can come up with is that Savage wanted World War II analogies but but knew if he said things that would be seen as pro-Nazi he’d lose sponsors. So he said something utterly untrue, but which doesn’t read as pro-Hitler. It’s still got plenty of racism and white supremacism, though.

Because that’s what sells for him.
