re: #78 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷

It looks like my state attorney general is setting up so the state can waste our tax money to go after Nebraska Medicine (the state-run school the governor wants shuttered) and hospitals.

Prescription of Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine as Off-Label Medicines for the Prevention or Treatment of Covid-19 (internal link to a PDF with an opinion from Nebraska State Attorney General Doug Peterson)

TL;DR, the head of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services asked a legal opinion on whether hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin could be prescribed by physicians.

The AG noted a study in The Lancet “denouncing” that usage, then immediately said the data was flawed (because he’s a lawyer, not a doctor, Jim).

He then points to “off-label” use saying as long as a physician doesn’t proscribe dangerous amounts of either those or any other drug to “treat” Covid-19, then his office is fine with it.

Meanwhile, the studies often cited as “proof” that these drugs have potential antiviral properties list dosages way outside the points approved by the FDA as safe for humans. And that at the dosages considered such, the drugs are totally ineffective as treatments against COVID or any other viral infections.

This sounds like the standard “Right to Try” BS that you hear wingnuts spin when all the scientific evidence against their latest “miracle cure” has been debunked.
