Which speaks to exactly the comment I was about to make.

The Bible speaks of people who pray loudly on the street corners, and says instead we should pray quietly in our closets. The point being that those on the street corners aren’t interested in talking to God, but in having everyone around them see them being such ‘good, religious’ people.

Likewise, a man who publishes his letter to his daughters isn’t so much interested in parenting as he is getting praise from everyone who sees him for being such a ‘good and loving’ parent.
