The whole big bird meme going around today can safely be ignored. It’s a distraction. Dems need to wise up and get serious. Memes and slacktivists retweeting hashtags isn’t serious.

It’s not a distraction, it’s a simple way of bringing attention to Romney’s absurd claim that PBS is somehow a big driver of the deficit. When the moderator asks a question about cutting the deficit, and one of the candidates respond with cutting somewhere in the neighborhood of one-one thousandth of the budget, how does anybody take it seriously?

Granted, it may sound childish to attack a candidate as “wanting to kill Big Bird,” but if that’s what it takes to bring attention to the above, then so be it.
