Precisely. That is the way with cultural significance. You start off with a toehold, then you gain power and you start rewriting history to make it look as if your victory was divinely ordained. People have been doing it of at least 3,000 years, and presumably they were doing it before writing began as well.

I am going to take a couple of deep breaths and not scream at you for the rudeness of that. No. the actual spot had an actual Temple on it that was actually there. The actual mount was obviously built by people also, since mountains don’t come in big rectangles.

The Temple is Jewish. It is not anyone else’s and this has nothing to do with divine right any ore than an argument that Versailles is French would have.

Property is a social construct. When left-wing governments get elected and forcibly nationalise industries, who “owns” the factories?

We get together and write laws that say who owns what and why. That’s the way the world works.

Fine fair ebnough.. Property is a social construct. By the construct that would apply to everyone else, the Temple is ours. We want what is ours.

It is ours by right of building it. It is ours by right of cultural importance, it is ours by right or original ownership. It is ours by right of conquest.
