i have a feeling it will get bad so quick (unlike the plan to make it get bad slowly like a frog in boiling water) that people will respond to good governance and sound policy

I hope you are right but unfortunately when a liberal policy fails, the reason given 100% of the time is that the policy did not go far enough and needs to be expanded to actually work as intended.
