It’s a popcorn flick, like most of Emmerich’s disaster films are. Great to watch in the theater, but when you go later to make sense of them, you can actually feeling neurons imploding in disbelief.

2012 particularly amused me: Apparently, all that destruction was caused by an exotic new type of neutrinos from a huge solar flare that ended up heating the Earth’s core.

I certainly chuckled when I heard that. It’s almost like a parody of pseudoscience.
