It rather reminds me of the Dark Side of the Force in that way.

My friend Jacoby always comes to mind in discussion like this. He has no compassion whatsoever for other human beings. You could torture someone to death in front of him and he’d just be annoyed at all the noise. But he doesn’t have any desire for anyone else to suffer— he can’t even recognize it when he sees it, so how could he?
