I urge folks to push for all vote-by-mail, like we now do in Washington and Oregon. You get your ballot days in advance and can fill it out at your leisure at home, no standing in damn lines for hours on end. If you don’t trust the mail, there are places to directly return your completed ballot.

I have some issues with that, as I articulated a day ago:

1) That assumes that the rest of the country is as advanced as Washington and Oregon. It isn’t. I shudder to think how a mail voting system would proceed in a state with a history of vote corruption.

2) I garan-fuckin-tee you some religious nuts are going try to dictate their family votes one way or another. This is the reason we have the secret ballot.

3) We don’t even know the long term prospects of the USPS yet. We may end up with a public voting system processed through a panoply of private carriers. Oh hell no.
