re: #76 Feline Fearless Leader

I also made a docent’s day in the National Portrait Gallery today. She was in front of the portrait of Benjamin Franklin* talking about how he dressed while being presented to the King of France in the 1778(?) as one of the diplomats trying to arrange for loans and an alliance with France to aid the colonies.

I turned up about then, added a few useful comments, and then recommended a book that I had just finished called _A Great Improvisation_ on that very subject.

A good karma day. :)

* - It’s the portrait that is the basis of the Franklin on the $100. I also got a picture of the Hamilton portrait that is currently used on the $10.

Made sure to go there on my last trip. My favorite place is the Smithsonian, but a week was but a fraction of the time it would take to see even most of it. Did make a point of getting to the National Air and Space Museum. Some incredible history on display there, from space suits covered with moon dust to an SR-71. Spy Museum was a fun break, but I could spend months just working through the Smithsonian. So much worth studying instead of a quick walk by.

Darn, now I’d like to make another visit.
