I try to remind myself that in the past few centuries this land has been through many upheavals, lots of wars and death, conflicts of all sorts (ideological, hot-wars, economic collapses, etc.)

Trump is by far the worst President of any that I can remember from reading about the past or have experienced in my life.

But remember, America has a long history of weird and frankly nutty things.

Joseph Smith and his fabled golden tablets - people bought (and some still do) into that idea.

Hoaxes of all sorts.

And remember than many of the laws we have to protect people only came about after decades of large companies controlling so much wealth that it took a large backlash of popular angst to force American politicians (who otherwise were in the pockets of the barons) into action.
