As most atheists did, we never bought the line “the new Pope is more liberal and will shine much-needed light on the Catholic Church.”

The Pope’s job is to “defend the faith.” That means those bringing accusations of sexual assault against the Church be “lyin’ bitches.”

While the Church gets the most attention, Protestant churches in the USA are just as bad.

The thing is, most Catholics and religious observers assumed that Francis would be a bit different as a Jesuit and a Latin American. All that does is change his biases, it doesn’t eliminate them entirely.
