The “right wing/left wing” model of American politics really falls apart here. Muslims supported the Democrat party in places like Michigan — even though Democrats are opposed to so many of Islam’s tenets. The bottom line for those Muslims was the war in Iraq which they opposed.

OTOH, these Muslims from Irvine are being portrayed as another example of right wing extremists. And, of course, Islam is typically portrayed as one more out-of-touch religion that can’t handle the brave new world of liberated women, same-sex marriage, secular laws, etc.

I wonder when we will move away from the simplistic view of politics and engage a discussion using terms that mean something? Terrorist means something. Right-wing terrorist is meaningless (see above).
