Heh.
My great-great-grandfather, when he arrived in this country from Germany, ended up in New Orleans, where he bought a piece of land on the river, and purchased the rafts that were used to ship stuff downriver, then he sold the wood for building purposes. He coulda made a business out of what you describe.
My son is really into genealogy, and he found out that my great-grandfather was one of the biggest movers of stolen goods through Michigan and Ohio (and probably Canada) 100 years ago!
He told me, “don’t tell Grandma.”
I asked him, “how did you learn this?”
He said, “Newspaper archives. You think you’re the only one putting microfilm online?”
