As to the alt-righties that I have seen in Stockholm making fools out of themselves a lá permit Patty, each one has struck me as having issues, and not just because of the things they say, but the way in which they go on and on and how they say things.

Yes, the same thing is happening here. And I am sure that you have seen some of the videos and read some of the articles.

Some jerk feels emboldened to bully people they see as weak or marginal. Usually it’s something that is related to a cultural marker which defines the bullied person as an outsider.

I am so sorry that you and your ex had to endure this drek. And I am glad that you stood up to it. Sadly, here in the US, several folks have been shot or knifed when they stood up to the bully.
