The sufis, in particular Rumi when he was on his deathbed, told people not to be sad about his passing because he viewed his impending death as his “wedding night”, when he would finally be untied with his beloved.

When my dad passed away, I mentioned that his father had died during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. I said, “most parents wait for nine months to see their first-born child. My grandfather waited for 92 years.”
