Yep! Both directed at them and as a third party. Some of the stuff I overheard from fellow CS majors who didn’t realize a woman was around made me question my field of study at times. Or, at least, college aged men.

In my work I’ve largely been lucky to have not run into it much, but outside of work, even with nominal friends, I’ve gotten plenty directed at me or women in general.

You (unfortunately) can drop the age and field of study requirements to that statement. Our culture seems to like the “macho” meme without realizing all the ignorant behaviors that appear to be directly connected to it. (Cue the “taking away your man card” jokes.)
