re: #803 Floral Giraffe

Once upon a time, I lived in a train station that had been converted to apartments. Every floor was single sex. The first floor was mostly office & laundry, but a couple of “boy” apartments. 2nd was ladies, 3rd was guys, 4th was ladies. It was a 4 story building. We had a BAD cockroach problem. Management sprayed one floor at a time. Spray 1, drive them to 2. Etc. We taped the entries to my apartment with double sided tape. Caught a LOT of the bad boys, and decided to start a “zoo” to see how long a roach could live without food or water.
Well, my floor got cleaned up REALLY FAST once the inspectors saw “the zoo”. We had roaches last over 2 months with NO food or water.
They will rule the earth, long after the humans are gone!

LOL…

Back when I was a wee freshman in the Alumni Memorial Residences at JHU, we had a big, and I mean Baltimore - whatchu lookin at suckah - BIG roach go striding along the wall of the hallway. It was about 4-41/2” without the feelers.

One of the intrepid roach hunters went to his room and got an aerosol can and a lighter, determined to flambe the roach.

Well as he snuck up on it - he discovered it had wings. It bounced off his head, and the guy went screaming down the hall like a total sissy.

The roach, unperturbed continued in the opposite direction.
