I’m watching NHK (usually English but currently in simultaneous translation from NHK Japan). They showed a picture of the gun and I went to find a picture on Twitter. I’m putting the pic behind the button.

The Japanese Rifle Assn representative said this was not the sound of a rifle, and I would agree. It sounded more like a cannon.
